After the baseball henley shirt, I made a second henley shirt for my baby.
For the pattern part, I shortened the sleeve length by 1″, and added 3/8″ to the neck area of the body and sleeve piece so that the neckband would be narrower than the baseball henley shirt.
I used the plaid knits fabric (medium weight cotton jersey) I got from fabric.com for the body and neckband, and a small piece of cotton print for the front placket (Alexander Henry heath-crosshatch in chocolate).
The placket construction looks more clean than the one in baseball henley, is it?
Speaking of placket constructions, here are a few online links/sources that I learned a lot from them. Check them out if you are interested.
- Threads article: how to make a precision placket. (focus on sleeve placket, but the concept is similar.)
- Little Kids Grow: single placket.
- Staying Steyn: simple button placket
